2001

The Ralph Waldo Emerson Award is given by All Souls Unitarian Universalist church to the individual or group that most furthers the cause of liberal religion in the Shreveport / Bossier community.

It is given yearly at the Sunday service closest to
our anniversary date (April 17). In April of 2001, The Baha'i's of Shreveport, Louisiana won the award for initiating the celebration of World Religion Day in Shreveport.

Accepting the award was Frances Flournoy.
Instead of the usual Sunday service, the Bahai's of Shreveport gave a wonderful presentation on the meaning of acceptance in todays multicultural world.

The Baha'i musical group HORIZON played throughout the service and filled the sanctuary with sound and energy.
